Gee, time to blog. Who'd'a thunk? Only have a few minutes, so here goes.

We've had a little one here at the cave for the last few months. Z came to us when she was six months old. She had suffered third degree burns over 40% of her body, waist down. After spending two months in the UNC Burn Center, she was sent to us because that's our specialty, medically fragile infants. I'm happy to say that after about seven months here, Z is about ready to start walking on her own. Of course, now that she's better, she'll be leaving in a week or so. Sucks, too, because besides her burns, she's a perfectly normal child. I haven't had a normal child in the cave in years.

The Better Half™ is still in tremendous pain from her shoulder surgery, but it's slowly getting better. Very slowly. I've been running on adrenaline and nicotine for the last few weeks, and it's starting to wear me a bit thin. However, when I said "for better or for worse, in sickness and in health", I meant it.

Know anybody who wants a couple of teenagers? I'll pay you to take 'em. Please. JT and Pat (a/k/a Beavis and Butthead) are driving me insane! They'll be 16 and 15 in a couple of months, and they know it all. In spades. I need to have them find jobs somewhere, like on an oil rig in the Gulf. Right now I'm threatening them with bodily harm if they don't get out from in front of the idiot box and get the freakin' kitchen done. Needless to say, nothing is getting done yet.

OK, time to get stuff done around the cave again. No rest for the weird. Later!

Holy guacamole. I haven't put anything in here since February?? OK, I'm slack, sue me. Actually I have a good excuse this time -- I'm lazy. No, that's not it, The Better Half™ had shoulder surgery, so I had to take a couple weeks off work to function as Mr. Mom and Mr. Nurse while she started recovery. Turned out she had a bone spur on her shoulder, and said spur had pretty much ripped up her rotator cuff, so the doc had to grind the spur down and then repair the cuff. Not much fun, if you ask me. Then I went back to work, and now have to rush home, fix dinner, change and feed the babies . . . you get the idea. Not a spare moment to be had anywhere, so I figured I'd just zap something in here to let the few people on the planet who actually read this drivel know that I'm still alive and breathing. Oh yeah, if you're interested, I had a birthday in April. I'm now half a century old. Damn, that sounds ancient, doesn't it?

More as I have time. Time. Hah.
