IT'S OFFICIAL!!!! She's ours! Actually, she was ours as of Wednesday, but we got the letter today. Now I break with tradition and give out one of my children's names, so here goes: Sarah Rose Sledge, age 2, officially joins the family today. And there was much rejoicing!

I know I said I was going to stay away from politics, but I just saw something that made me doubt my sanity (more so than usual). In the break room someone is watching CNN, and on the tube they just showed where Kerry won all three debates. I just stood there for about ten seconds in stark disbelief. What planet do these people live on?? To make it even worse, the person watching CNN was nodding her head in agreement! That solo space flight to Mars is looking better and better . . .

OK, it's early, and my brain isn't quite up to speed yet, but I had to get this out to those couple of folks who actually meander in my direction on occasion. For those who don't know, there is a man who has a blog by the name of Bill Whittle. Mr. Whittle is an unapologetic patriot and a damned fine writer. That being said, leave this place NOW and go to his site immediately and read his latest missive, "Deterrence". Why are you still here? Go! Now!!

Guess what? Last night was a bust (again). Too many things going on, not enough time. Kinda the story of my life lately.

Let's try to bring this thing up to date here. As of September, I am now (again!) the Grand Knight of my Knights of Columbus council. The main reason I got elected was that nobody else wanted it. So now I have to somehow find time to take care of those responsibilities along with everything else.

The Better Half™ and I are still waiting for word on SR's adoption. Now they're saying sometime in late October. Is it something about governmental (or private) agencies that makes them keep their heads in the sand? When someone goes to work for a bureaucracy, does their brain go into "stall" mode?

Well, as of September 13, I now have two teenagers at home. Both boys. Please kill me now.

Wonder of wonders, I have been selected by my priest to be a part of the parish council! Since I am in charge of training the lectors (the people who read the Gospel before the sermon), I now represent the lectors on the council. Gee, I wonder if I can petition God to increase the number of hours in a day to about 30. Now my priest is making noises that I would make a good deacon. A deacon in the Catholic church is only one step down from a priest, which means that if I were to become a deacon, I could officiate at weddings, baptisms, funerals, hold Mass, etc. I'll find out next week how much work this will entail. And I thought my time was tight now . . .

Enough of this drivel for now. I'll catch y'all later.

Geez, it's been a long time since I put anything in here! The two people who actually read this drivel must think I've died or something. Well, I'm not dead, although at times during the past month it wouldn't have surprised me if I had gone toes up. Anyway, let me get my butt outta here and head home. I'll see if I can't manage to wrestle the computer away from The Better Half™ for a short while tonight and keep everyone apprised about my exciting life (yawn).
